These little babies have been on repeat at our house and I’m just so darn happy to get more protein into our girls!
They come together super quick with basic pantry staples but they are wayyyy better than any other recipe I have tried! It has to be the proportions of the ingredients or the protein power…I can’t decide. Either way, all of us (minus Aaron who doesn’t like peanut butter WTH right!?) enjoy the heck out of them! I’m sure you could add in other mix ins but I have stayed pretty true to this recipe so far. I’m thinking of going wild and adding some coconut and chia seeds next time!
Pro Tip: I use our favorite protein powder from Just Ingredients — I can’t rave enough about this protein powder for this recipe and smoothies. It blends like a dream, isn’t chalky/gritty and just tastes so good! We generally get the “just plain” flavor so we can use it in everything. Keep in mind if you go with vanilla it has cinnamon in it–that threw me for a loop when we tried it!
Give these a try and let me know what you think when you do!
Protein Bites
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 1/3 old fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 protein powder
- 1/2 mini chocolate chips
- large pinch of salt
Combine all ingredients into a large bowl. Use your finger to check stickiness — if it sticks to your finger, add a little more protein powder until it doesn’t. Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes.
Remove from the refrigerator and using a mini cookie scoop (we have these) or scoop into balls and roll them into about 1 inch in size.
Store them in a covered container in the fridge. I do put a layer of parchment paper between the layers to avoid sticking.
They also freeze well but we never have a hard time eating a batch in the fridge!
